Was macht Hardware sicher? Welche Schwachstellen stecken in der physischen Umsetzung kryptografischer Verfahren? In diesem Vortrag geht es um die Grundlagen der Hardware-Sicherheit: Mechanismen, Herausforderungen und reale Angriffsvektoren.

Zwei zentrale Angriffsarten stehen im Fokus: Side-Channel Analysis und Fault Injection – also Angriffe, die Informationen aus Stromverbrauch, elektromagnetischer Abstrahlung oder absichtlich erzeugten Fehlern gewinnen. Anhand konkreter Beispiele bewegen wir uns Schritt für Schritt von einfachen Konzepten hin zu komplexeren Szenarien.

What makes hardware secure? What are the vulnerabilities in the physical implementation of cryptographic processes? This lecture deals with the basics of hardware security: mechanisms, challenges and real attack vectors. The focus is on two central types of attack: side-channel analysis and fault injection - i.e. attacks that obtain information from power consumption, electromagnetic radiation or deliberately generated errors. Using concrete examples, we move step by step from simple concepts to more complex scenarios.
