Prospective students who obtained their school or bachelor’s degree outside Germany must register with uni-assist, the service center for international student applications. Only after this can they apply for a place at FH Wedel. Uni-assist evaluates the submitted documents and issues the Preliminary Review Documentatio (VDP). This must be issued for a program at FH Wedel and included with the application. The VPD contains a file number used to identify your application and lists your GPA (Grade Point Average), a grade average based on the German education system. Applications can only be considered if the GPA is below 3.0.
For admission, the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH) is required: DSH1 for IT Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, and IT Security; DSH2 for all other German-language programs. In addition, English proficiency at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) must be demonstrated. For the English-language Master’s program in IT Engineering, English proficiency at B2 level is required; German is not necessary.
If a visa is required, the application should be submitted at least six months in advance. The visa must be applied for at the German diplomatic mission in the applicant’s home country. EU citizens do not need a visa but must apply for a residence permit at the relevant immigration office within three months of arrival in Germany.
Applications are submitted via the FH Wedel application portal.
